Cupcakes

Cupcakes have been a beloved dessert for generations. The origins of the cupcake can be traced back to the 18th century, when they were referred to as “number cakes.” These early versions of cupcakes were baked in individual ramekins or molds, and their name came from the measurements used in the recipe – a cup of butter, a cup of sugar, a cup of flour, and so on.

As baking techniques and equipment evolved, cupcakes became easier to make and more popular. They were a popular choice for parties and special occasions, and in the early 1900s, they became a staple of school bake sales and community events.

Today, cupcakes come in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. From classic vanilla and chocolate to unique flavors like Chai Tea and Guava, there is a cupcake for every taste. Cupcake shops and bakeries have popped up all over the world, offering a wide variety of creative and delicious options.

Here is a recipe for classic vanilla cupcakes:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
  8. Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Decorate with frosting or toppings of your choice

Of course cupcakes come not just  with a Vanilla taste but instead in many colors and flavors.
